Research vessel´s period

The american oceanographic research vessel NEIL ARMSTRONG paid Reykjavik a visit in this week and not for her first time. Usually a number of research vessels pay the port a visit at this time heading for their scientific work in the Arctic region and she will propably not be the first one this year. She is the first vessel of her class owned by the United States Navy and operated by Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. The ship was ordered in May 2010 as a replacement for RV Knorr, She entered service in 2015 but she has a sister ship, RV Sally Ride.
