On March 29th 2019 the ferry HERJÓLFUR was renamed HERJÓLFUR III due to change of management. Eimskip has been managing the ferry since January 1st 2006 but from March 30st 2019 a new company, Vestmannaeyjaferjan Herjólfur, took over the management. A new ferry is under final stage at building yard in Poland has been given the name HERJÓLFUR and older one was therefore renamed.
