In 2018 the Maritime Safety and Survival Training Centre signed contract with EMZEI in Finland for new fire-training unit to be build in cooperation with the Reykjavík City Fire team.
Due to the pandemic a delay was in building the training unit but finally when restriction it became possible to continue the project. In beginning of April the first tests started.
First trainees from the MSSTC did trial in the unit on 31 May and photos from this first test training of comming seafarers can be seen here. This is the first unit of this kind in the country.
