On stockholders meeting in HB Grandi on August 15th 2019 a proposal of changing the name of the company to Brim was accepted. The name of the company was last changed 15 years ago, when two companies — Haraldur Böðvarsson and Grandi – merged. Grandi itself was created through the merger of Isbjörninn and Bæjarútgerð Reykjavíkur.

Brim hf. is one of Iceland’s largest seafood companies. The company has a long history and extensive experience and expertise in the utilisation of natural resources and fish production, which is reflected in all its activities. The company focuses on sophisticated fishing and processing technology and continuous production development.

Brim hf own’s and operate eight fishing vessels. The full processing freezer trawlers are Örfirisey, Höfrungur III and Vigri. The wettish trawlers are Helga María, Akurey and Viðey but the company recently sold Engey which is sister to Akurey and Viðey. Last but not least are the two purse seiners sisters Venus and Víkingur.
