On January 7th 2018 SAMSKIP HOFFELL suffered engine problems while on outbound voyage from Reydarfjordur (IC) to Rotterdam at entrance of the fjord Reydarfjordur. Rescue vessels came for assistance but she managed to return to the Port of Eskifjordur under own power. She was escorted by rescue vessels. She was unloaded but returned back to service after repairs later in the month.
